Woodland Spirit - Temptation

The Woodland Spirit design is a celebration of M.C. Escher and fine art paintings. In this design I have created a geometric pattern at the base which gradually and gracefully opens up into leaves. In the centre, coming out of the night, is a beautiful woman. For me the beautiful woman represents a spiritual connection with the forest.

I created the border in the style of M.C. Escher’s geometric patterns. The challenge was to design a shape that made the bridge between the geometric pattern at the base and the full leaves.

To create the Woodland Spirit herself I used a fine art influence. This involved careful brushwork to create her facial features and skin tones.

On the extra large piece I have designed four different poses, Temptation, Prayer, Calling and Rapture. I have used my large shape to repeat each design.

The Temptation pose conveys a sense of wanting to follow the beautiful spirit wherever she may take you. The Prayer pose conveys the spiritual aspect of the design and evokes feelings of a peace that can perhaps only be reached through prayer. The Calling pose was designed to convey a sense of comfort that the woodland spirit has chosen you. Finally, the rapture pose enables us to feel the exquisite joy she experiences.

This piece is a limited edition of 5.

Recommended retail price £2200.

The large towers are 17” high by 4” wide at the base.
